Racehorses have been trained on Newmarket Heath for over 400 years.
The training grounds are the heart and lungs of a multimillion pound industry, which makes Newmarket the headquarters of racing.
Many people will see the 2,500 horses, which use the heath on daily basics, but few understand how this complex area, extending to 2,500 acres, really works.
Come and find out and learn more about the fascinating history of the Heath and how it operates today. William Gittus will be giving us a guided tour of the gallops, explaining how this complex and important business for the Newmarket area works. This will be followed by breakfast at the Jockey Club.
Note: Arrival time - 07.00am at the Jockey Club, High Street, Newmarket
For any attendees on the day, the Jockey Club are kindly offering a 10% discount on the next tour of the famous Jockey Club Rooms, plus a viewing of the unique art collection and a two course lunch!
