Jockey Club - a 250yr old business in the 21st century
The Jockey Club was founded in 1750 and very rapidly took control of racing in Great Britain. The Club ran racing for 2½ centuries, finally handing over the last elements of regulation of the sport to the British Horseracing Authority in 2008.
With a combined turnover of over £100 million and 555 full-time employees, The Jockey Club remains the biggest single stakeholder in racing and continues to benefit the industry through its membership and its commercial arms, which include Jockey Club Racecourses, Jockey Club Estates and the National Stud.
The Jockey Club and racing are synonymous in the minds of many people all over the world. To find out how this 250 year old organisation operates in the 21st century, why not join us for breakfast in the Club’s historic home, the Jockey Club Rooms, here in Newmarket.
