Business Awards

Business Awards 2010

The aim of the N&DCC Business Awards is to both highlight and celebrate the wealth and diversity of business expertise in Newmarket and to reward the high standards attained.

History

The N&DCC Business Awards were started in 2003 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the N&DCC. As the event was a runaway success, it was decided to make it an annual affair. In 2005 event was combined with a Christmas Party to add to the fun.

There are eleven individual categories; in addition all entries are automatically entered into the Judges Award Category which is the overall winner for Business of the Year:

  • Small Business of the Year
  • New Business of the Year
  • Innovative Use of Technology Award
  • Best Community Engagement Award
  • Marketing Initiative of the Year Award
  • Retailer of the Year
  • Customer Focus Award

Entry Fees

Entry to the Awards is free!
The entry form is designed to help the judges understand the business, its progress and get a feel for the personality of the business.

Many entrants have reported that simply filling the form has been a useful exercise and has given them a rare chance to step back and think about their business for a while. Of course, they like it even better if they win!
The closing date is mid-October each year. The entry form is unlikely to change much so why not get a head start on your entry for 2010?

Award Sponsorship

In addition, there are sponsors for each of the awards, and a sponsor for the entertainment. Contact the N&DCC Office if you are interested in finding out about sponsorship opportunities.

Entry form & tips

5 Top Tips for entering
  1. Type your entry - it's quite hard to get a good impression of a business if we can't read the writing!
  2. Proof read your entry to make sure it makes sense and says what you mean. Spell checking is a good idea too.
  3. Answer questions as fully as possible -one word answers to questions don't really tell us much. Accurate facts are preferable to vague waffle.
  4. Supply back up material - newspaper cuttings, marketing literature, testimonials, etc - All these help the judges get a glimpse of the personality of the business.
  5. If you do something differently to all other businesses in your field - TELL US!
